David Higgins is Professor of Environmental Humanities at the University of Leeds, where he teaches and researches literature, climate change and nature writing.
David is the co-author of Modern British Nature Writing, 1789-2020 (CUP, 2022) and has written for publications including The Ecologist, The Independent and The Clearing. His essay ‘Eddie and the Birds’ was included in the anthology Going to Ground (Little Toller, 2024). Another essay, ‘Minibeasts’ was shortlisted for the Nature Chronicles Prize in 2024.
David is currently working on a new book, The Butter Bump: In Search of the Bittern, to be published in 2028.
